For those who don’t know you yet: Who are you?
Hello, my name is Kristina-Katharina S. and I am currently working on a research project for the University of Alicante focusing on the socio-economic networks of the monastery of La Saidía in the Kingdom of Valencia during the late Middle Ages. I have a great passion for history and this project is an exciting journey to discover the intricate connections that shaped the world of that time.
How did you come to Suiters?
I came to Suiters when I was looking for a place that offered both a vibrant community and a quiet environment to focus on my work. It turned out to be the perfect balance between productivity and social interaction.
What has surprised you most about living in a shared flat?
What has surprised me most is the feeling of community and support. Living with like-minded people who are passionate about their own projects creates an inspiring atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere.
Do you think that living in a coliving helps new residents in the city?
Of course it does. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn about the local culture and quickly feel at home in a new city. The shared experiences make it easier to find your way around and enjoy everything the city has to offer.
Do you have any advice for someone who wants to join the Suiters community?
If you are looking for a place where you can be productive but also socialise in a meaningful way, Suiters is the perfect choice. Don’t hesitate to join the community events: they are a great way to break the ice and make friends.
What is the most memorable experience you have had at Suiters so far?
The most memorable experience was the selfless way they helped one of our colleagues get into his flat late at night during his stay here.
How has the Suiters community inspired you in your personal or professional life?
The diversity of people and their projects here has been incredibly inspiring. It has motivated me to look at my own research from different perspectives and to think creatively about how I present my findings.
Do you have any personal or professional projects that you are developing during your stay at Suiters?
Yes, I am currently developing a chapter of my research looking at litigation in medieval religious communities. The collaborative and supportive environment at Suiters has helped me to refine my ideas.
What is your favourite thing to do in Alicante when you are not at Suiters?
I love exploring Alicante’s historical sites and enjoying the beautiful Mediterranean beaches. It’s a great way to relax and get inspired outside of work.
If you could design an event for the people of Suiters, what kind of event would it be? Why?
I would design a historical tour of Alicante followed by a group discussion on how history shapes today’s culture. It would be a fun way to combine learning with socialising and fits well with my passion for history, in a friendly atmosphere of course.
